What inexpensive used desktops will support a PCIe graphics card for HD video?

Looking for an inexpensive used desktop that has a PCI express slot and big enough power supply to support a decent graphics card with HDMI output, such as the ASUS nVidia GeForce 210 or similar. Using this for HD video mostly, no gaming.

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks|||Most desktops built within the last 3-4 years should be fine... something with at least a dual-core processor and 250W or higher power supply. Recent motherboards all have a PCI-E x16 slot, and that's enough for a Radeon HD 5450 (which is quite inexpensive, but a step above the GeForce 210 and Radeon HD 4350)

The biggest potential pitfall - many inexpensive desktops are slimline models, which can only accept low-profile graphics cards and often have weak power supplies (sometimes even below 200 watts). So look a regular tower instead.

With a 220-270 watt psu, you'll have no problems running a Radeon HD 5450.

http://www.techspot.com/review/244-ati-r…|||hi michael

to be honest mate your better off buying a "motherboard bundle" which comprises of a cpu,motherboard and memory.... and then all you need to do is use your existing hard drive,dvdrw drive,psu and case......this is a inexpensive way to bring a pc up to date and you can get some excellent bundles ... for example the "

Novatech Motherboard Bundle - Intel Pentium Dual Core E5800 - 2GB DDR2 800Mhz - Intel G41 Motherboard"( http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/prods… ) is just £104 and you get the excellent dual core E5800.... a g41 chipset motherboard with a pci-express x16 slot and 4 x sata ports... and 2gb of ddr2 memory running at 800mhz

another bundle worth considering is the "Novatech Motherboard Bundle - Intel Core Duo E6700 - 2GB DDR3 1333Mhz - Intel G41 Motherboard"( http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/prods… ) which has a E6700 cpu and also has a g41 motherboard..... but has 2gb of faster ddr3 memory clocked at 1333mhz

another option would be a "barebones bundle" which is a step up from a motherboard bundle and also has a case and a psu.... check the range at http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/bareb… note : all the bundles have a pci-express x16 slot and 4 x sata ports !

out of all these barebone bundles i recommend the "Novatech Barebone Bundle - AMD X2 255- 4GB DDR3 1333Mhz - Onboard NVIDIA 7025 Graphics - 4 Bay ATX Tower Case & PSU"( http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/prods… ) this is based around a AMD dual core cpu ( x2 255 ) and a nvidia 7025 motherboard however theres 4gb of ddr3 memory clocked at 1333mhz which makes this bundle a powerful set up ..... add your existing hard drive and dvdrw.. and then your choice of graphic card ( i recommend the HD5670.... avalible for just £59 from http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/prods…

so basically the above barebone bundle for £150... and the HD5670 for £59 means you will have a powerful pc with a decent graphic card that has a HDMI and DVI output.... all for under £220 !

i hope this helps michael... however any questions let me know

good luck mate !
