Can I output WQHD (2560x1440) with my laptop/video card? Details inside.?

I want to get an HP Pavilion dv7-6178us. It has a Radeon HD 6490m.

The computer has HDMI and USB 3.0, but does not have DisplayPort or DVI-D... is it possible to output WQHD through USB 3.0 --> DVI-D? or to forge an EDID and override HDMI's 1080p max by using an HDMI 1.4a cable?|||You should be able to output that resolution, the specs for your graphics card state a lower max resolution for HDMI but it also mentions while using 3D and such. the Nr. 13 foot note states that: "Some custom resolutions require user configuration".

you can find out by giving it a try, as long as you use a High Speed HDMI cable (manufacturers are no longer allowed to promote 1.3 and 1.4 and such) you should be good to go.
