Which video cards have an hdmi input or output?

im looking for one that i can connect to my hdtv, also does this output sound also? such as the gtx 295 or ati hd 5970?|||There`s a whole bunch of cards with hdmi output. However, even if the cards have only dvi outputs, you can get dvi to hdmi adaptors. Some cards from ATI are made by a lot of different companies. Each with different clock speeds, various outputs and features.

Check out vendors like MSI, Vision tec, Diamond, EVGA. You will find what you need with all the choices available.|||Its output for video cards

Only video capture cards could have a HDMI input.

Why doesn't my new graphics card output video?

I just built a new computer and have a 2gig graphics card. I believe it's the Radeon 6950 HD model. I have been using an HDTV as my monitor for the last couple of weeks until I got a regular monitor for Xmas. I had an hdmi cable from my motherboard slot plugged into the tv. Well now this monitor I got doesn't have hdmi so I have to use either VGA or DVI. I plugged dvi into my graphics card slot as my motherboard doesn't have dvi option and the monitor just says no signal input, going to sleep. I have no clue what is going on. I installed the drivers that came with the monitor and got nothing. My graphics card drivers are also up to date. Please don't tell me that my graphics card is bad because that is not the case. It's brand new and runs video games just fine. It's just the video output seems to be disabled or something. Thanks in advance for any help|||The monitor may have a switch for choosing what input to use. Push it and select the DVI input.

Go into CMOS and check if there's a setting to choose between onboard video or video from an add on card. If your computer is set to use onboard video this may explain what you're seeing.

If your card requires an auxiliary power input verify this cable is plugged in and verify your power supply is big enough to supply the card.

Is there video cards for the computer that output hdmi?

i wanted to use my tv screen as a montior but it only has the HDMI input and no vga input, so i was wondering if thre are video cards that output via HDMI cords. Thanks

glen|||I belive the 9800GX2 does.|||Almost all the latest video cards, ATI Radeon HD specially can, all of the high range, 2xxx, 3xxx seires Some GeForce can do that via an internal sound interconnect. The is a Xfx 7600 GT HDMI special edition. Check on the manufacutrer web pages, and if it has a hdmi dongle or says HDMI compatible there you are.|||Look for a ATI 2900HD or really any ATI HD comes with a dvi to hdmi connector.

Looking for a video card that supports a dual HDMI output?

Does anyone know of any. Ive been searching and haven't found any.|||DVI is compatible with HDMI. You just need a DVI to HDMI cable. This won't carry any audio though.

So all you need is a dual DVI output video card, and you should be able to find several.

I am looking for a decent video card for less than $100. It must have an HDMI output as i am going to hook up ?

to my flat panel TV which has a HDMI input. Any suggest/help shall be highly appreciated.|||http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

$99.99

Like most cards, you will need a DVI-HDMI adapter. Though most HDTV's have DVI inputs.

Am I able to connect my video cards HDMI to a surround sound receiver and than to my LCD TV?

The HDMI apparently carries true DTS surround sound. Can I connect the HDMI to the receiver and than to the TV, or would I connect the HDMI to the TV and use the coaxial or optical output to the receiver?|||You can connect it directly to your receiver then to your tv if the reciever has a HDMI input and output.

Cheers

Can I still output sound through my hdmi on my graphics card?

I have a computer with realtek onboard motherboard audio. I also have an ATI 5850 video card connected to an AV receiver. Realtek recognizes the hdmi port and outputs sound to it. What I want to know is if I purchase a better sound card such as "ASUS" or "CREATIVE" can I still output sound through HDMI? Or is it required to plug in directly to the sound card and use multichannel cables to get 7.1 sound? I'd like it just to be one hdmi for video and sound.|||Your video card does not include sound, but it looks like ATI is ready to start including them on thier video cards....

Your other question, can you port sound through another card via HDMI cable on your vid card...No.

PCI Express x16 Card with HDMI output that works with 250 watt PSU?

My parents have a cheap Compaq desktop PC -- the functionality it offers generally exceeds their needs. However, I would like to connect this PC to their television so they can watch streaming videos more easily. Unfortunately, the integrated video card that came with the PC only supports VGA output. I would like to add a new video card that supports HDMI output. The system board has an open PCI Express x16 slot which supports video -- but as I look on NewEgg, I notice many of the cards have minimum power supply requirements exceeding 250 watts. Surely there are some out there that work with 250 watts (or less)? Any model/brand recommendations?

Thanks,

Josh|||Vomit is correct, the Radeon HD 5450 and 6450 both run fine on 250 watt power supplies- the 5450 doesn't even draw 15 watts under full load. I recommend the 6450 because it can handle full HD Blu-Ray playback flawlessly.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

ATI/AMD's published psu requirements on their sub-$100 card models are inflated way above what those cards actually use. For example, the much stronger Radeon HD 5670 and 6670 also have an "official" psu requirement of 400 watts, but even those cards don't have an external power connector and draw less than 60 watts under full load.... so those work fine on most 300W psus. For most computers with a 6450 or 5450 installed, total system power consumption is below 180 watts.

http://www.techspot.com/review/244-ati-r…|||http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main…|||A Radeon 5450 or 6450 will run fine on a 250w. Don't worry about what they say is required. Those cards eat diddly for power.

No video output from new video card?

recently bought a used Radeon 6950, but when I connect the hdmi cable theres no output, or any other cables for video, the tv does recognize the hdmi cable was connected but no video, could it be that my 550w psu isnt enough for this card and my pc or a defective video card?

Would like t know b4 contacting the seller, thank yuo.|||The 6950 requires a 500w power supply ( http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/g… ) so you are OK there.

Have you installed the drivers for this video card? If not, then there's your problem. Use the above link and click on the "Support" tab to get the latest driver.|||Power consumption under load for 6950 is 256W, so it might be borderline, but probably ok.|||Try extending computer out to the tv. Does vga work? Maybe you should install the ati controller or panel so you can have more control over the video card.|||Were you using integrated motherboard graphics prior to installing the HD 6950? If so, disable it in BIOS, because it's probably STILL set as your primary display output, and still outputting video.

What's the difference between using the integrated HDMI on motherboard and the HDMI output from video card?

This is my first time building my computer. At the moment, I like to have a motherboard with 16 gb ram max, takes in a quad, and hdmi.

Now I found out that there are hdmi integrated into the mobo and hdmi from video cards. What are the differences? I plan to use my computer for light gaming (ie: I don't play console games on PC since I have the games consoles) on both moniter that doesn't have HDMI (unless i can offer one) and HDTV. I also plan to do some movie editing using special effects (adobe aftereffects and premiere; particle illusion). I have no plans for 3D modelling.

So mainly what are the difference between the two?

Also, if you are kind enough to find me the right mobo with a good price, please post that as well. Will be much obliged.|||OK. Onboard ANYTHING is usually quite poor. This includes sound, video, and other things.

I would suggest you use the graphics card for the HDMI, and if you have a sound card (onboard or separate) then you can plug the graphics card into the sound card, and get HDMI with both picture and audio. If you have any questions on how to link the two together, email me and I will help you.|||The HDMI output from a motherboard is used for High Definition Audio Output. If there is a built in video card, it will contain High Definition video as well, but usually the HDMI output from the motherboard is for HD audio.

The HDMI output from a videocard is ONLY high definition video.|||u dont require a video card. ur mobo will fulfill all your needs|||According to a poster on http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/page… the only current cards that output audio and video over HDMI are the ATI range, although according to another, all can do it, but not all can do full 7.1 sound.

Your best bet, is to find a m/board that you like, and check its specs on the manufacturers website. It should say if it can output audio over the HDMI port. Those with an ATI chipset should work fine. If worst comes to worst, you will have to but a separate video card, but if you can find a site to buy from that lets you ask questions, or if you can ask in the shop before you buy, then you should be able to get one that will work without a separate graphics card.

Can I use a mobile intel series express chipset family video card and get an HD picture using an HDMI cable?

I have a Dell inspiron laptop with the above mentioned video card in it. THe issue I am having is that I got an HDTV for christmas and the laptop only has a VGA output. is it possible for me, using the hardware that I already have to but an adapter and an HDMI cable and get an HD picture on my monitor without having to buy a really expensive converter?|||Yes that should be easily possible, all you need is a VGA to HDMI adapter like this one

How does audio come through the HDMI with a video card?

Say I get a Nvidia GeForce GTX video card that supports HDMI. I know video will come through beautifully, but what about audio? Does the video card take HD audio and output that? or does it use a simple format of audio and send that to my monitor? OR you could just tell me how it all works and make life simple for me ^.^|||HDMI is the same as DVI, just different plug and socket and HDMI has sound.

all HDMI video cards should have 7.1 surround through HDMI if im not mistaken.|||Well i know my Radeon 5450 has HDMI and it is part soundcard (for the HDMI), so look it up, see if it supports sound or not|||you can only get audio from the hdmi if your monitor has speakers in it.

you simply go into control panel, sound, and double click on the nvidea hdmi option. if you dont just plug your speakers into the onboard sound as normal (the default ouput) and it will come out of your speakers.

also to the guy above me HDMI and DVI are very different.

HDMI was designed to replace the scart socket. it has the ability to transfor 7.1 sound AND any resolution of picture/video up to 1920 x 1200 pixels.

DVI on the other hand is a port designed for high quality images. it does not have the ability to carry sound but can carry info for video/pictures of any res up to 2560 x 1600 pixels

Do I really need HDMI video card if I bought HDMI monitor for my PC?

I am currently using DVI output video card NVIDIA G Force GTX 9800+ 512MB. My old monitor dies few days ago and bought a HD monitor to replace it. Do I need to buy a HDMI enabled video card to fully utilize the monitor capabilities or I am good with what I have now? Is it really necessary to buy a new video card?|||If your monitor has a dvi output, then you are good to go, dvi can display the same amount as hdmi. Just hdmi can carry sound and can display 10 bit. Dvi can't carry sound and can display 8 bit. if you have a computer you usually have seperate speakers. So no difference all good. LOL some idiot is giving a couple of us thumbs down when we are right.|||To answer your question,

DVI and HDMI are practically the same when you talk about the visual quality because they both use the same encoding schemes. The only Difference is that HDMI also carries audio and not just video like DVI. In your case buying a new Video card for your computer is not nessesary unless the monitor you purchased has built in speakers.|||you are good, DVI and HDMI are the same thing only different plug and HDMI can also pass audio. You can buy a DVI to HDMI adapter for your computer|||Nope. To keep it simple, HDMI passes both digital display and audio signals. DVI passes only digital display signals. DVI/HDMI are both the exact same quality display.|||No, but you're wasting quality.

Does HDMI output on a computer have video and audio?

I want to purchase a laptop to hook up to my TV to watch the internet over my TV. Will an HDMI output on the computer give me voice and audio across my TV speakers? Will the laptop need a special graphics or video card to accomplish this?|||HDMI includes audio.

If the laptop has a HDMI socket then you are good to go.

What kind of output is this on my video card?

I bought a new TV that has an HDMI input. So in order to use this, I bought a DVI to HDMI cable, and a video card that supposedly had a DVI output on it. Well, the cable does not fit the video card. I even tried a normal DVI cable that came with my old monitor - the video card is the problem. It certainly isn't VGA, and it looks similar to DVI but it has two extra sets of holes - meaning it is too big for the DVI cable. What could this be?|||I've provided you a link of all command video connector formats to help you determine what you've got.

Its completely possible that your video card has an HDMI connector, they do exist.... pretty rare right now, but they'll get more and more popular in the future. Most new video cards have two connectors, two DVI, two VGA, or one of each.|||Something like:

The first and second are DVI, albeit there's some mode difference; the third is a precursor to DVI but I doubt this is case, Apple Display Connector.
